SUNRISE PRACTICE
Hatha Yoga • Moving Meditation

Begin your day with a 60‑minute practice of breath, presence, and gentle movement.
Sunrise Practice is classic Hatha yoga rooted in awareness—a moving meditation designed to meet you exactly where you are.

All levels are welcome. All bodies and abilities. No pressure. No judgment. No expectations.
This is your space, your body, your breath, your practice.

Come as you are. Move at your own pace. You will not be embarrassed here.
Guided by Rev. Dr. Shelley D. Best.

MOVING MEDITATION
Deep Rest • Deep Reflection

This is the moment of Savasana—
where the body softens
and the mind becomes still.

Through breath and stillness, you enter a field of moving meditation and mindfulness:
a space to refocus your mind,
to notice what is ready to be released,
to uncover new openings for growth, healing, and peace.

As you rest, your body shifts into the parasympathetic nervous system—the place of restoration and renewal.
Heart rate slows.
Tension eases.
The body remembers how to heal.

This is where clarity comes.
This is where focus is restored.

You rise grounded.
Calm.
Ready for the day ahead.

About your Teacher Rev. Dr. Shelley D. Best

Rev. Dr. Shelley D. Best is a yoga teacher, mindfulness meditation guide, and creator of Creative Disruption®, known for blending contemplative practice, somatic wisdom, and spiritual depth into an accessible, high-quality teaching experience. Her classes invite students into embodied awareness, nervous system regulation, and genuine personal transformation—not performance.

Shelley’s practice is rooted in a trauma-aware Hatha yoga lineage shaped through long-term study with Anne Falkowski of Samadhi Yoga Studio, drawing on Kripalu and Forrest Yoga traditions. She has also trained in the Insight Meditation tradition with Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach, and is certified in Yoga Nidra through Tracee Stanley. In addition to her local offerings, she is a sought-after retreat leader, guiding programs at centers such as Kripalu, Wisdom House, and Omega Institute and progressive yoga studios committed to healing and social change.

Her teaching combines breath-centered movement, mindfulness, and deep rest to support resilience, presence, and repair. Every class emphasizes safety, consent, and accessibility for all levels and all bodies, with options offered so students can honor their own pace and needs.

Beyond the mat, Rev. Dr. Best is a minister and community leader with decades of experience holding transformational spaces, and the founder of The 224 EcoSpace in Hartford, Connecticut—a creative laboratory for healing, contemplative practice, and social innovation.
